CONCLUSIONS
Are precipitation and/or temperature key limiting factors of tree communities in Southern of South America?
If yes, what is the main period that affects tree growth?
Our results suggests that yes, precipitation and temperature can be a limiting factor for tree growth in the southern South America. However these relationships occur more locally depending mostly on climatic region. G1 region might be limited by water availability although it does not seem that these region seems to be vulnerable to drought as increasing temperatures summers match increase in precipitation. The lack of correlation during the more pronounced drought conditions suggests that species from this region are better adapted and less vulnerable to climate change.
Region two is considered the most vulnerable to climate change due to negative effect of increasing temperature. Also, it suggest that, among the studied regions of southern South America, this region should be considered priority as the other two do not show the same sensitivity to these key environmental conditions.
